Bolivian Cardinal's home dynamited

The Bolivian government says unknown assailants attacked the home of La Paz Cardinal Julio Terrazas with dynamite, causing structural damage but no injuries.

Interior vice minister Marcos Farfan calls the blast a "terrorist" act. He says the government has ordered an investigation.

Witnesses told broadcaster Fides the explosion damaged the home's entry way and shattered windows on neighbouring houses.

Archdiocese spokesman Fr Marcial Chopinagua said Cardinal Terrazas was not at home at the time.

The attack occurred early Wednesday in Santa Cruz, a hotbed of opposition to President Evo Morales.

The government accuses Terrazas of backing the opposition, and Church-state relations have been tense under Morales.
