THE Scottish Parliament should have its powers extended to cover such issues as abortion and Trident, the leader of Scotland's Roman Catholics said yesterday.
Cardinal Keith O'Brien said the outcome of the Holyrood election showed that people wanted a greater say on these and other issues.
The cardinal said he sensed that there had been "a lot of disgruntled people" unhappy with Labour in general and specific issues, such as Trident.
"It was as if Scotland wasn't grown-up enough to deal with something like Trident, adoption or abortion, and I think voters were fed up of that," said the church leader.
"In many ways, people have been disappointed with what has come out of the Scottish Parliament... and they are looking for a greater lead from our Scottish Parliament and Executive."
