In a strongly worded homily that he delivered on December 29, the
feast of the Holy Family, the Archbishop of Bologna, Italy has decried
the campaign to redefine marriage, saying that laws regarding marriage
should not be revised “on the basis of fashionable trends.”
Cardinal Carlo Caffarra charged that “powerful lobbies which are quite
often in control of the means of producing consensus” have thrown their
support behind the effort to redefine marriage.
The propaganda campaign,
he said, has managed to “distract men and women from listening to the
voice of God speaking in their consciences.”
