Clelia Luro, the widow of a former Argentine bishop with whom Pope
Francis had weekly telephone conversations, has died in Buenos Aires.
Her late husband, Jerónimo Podestá, served from 1962-67 as head of the
Diocese of Avellaneda before being dismissed from the clerical state in
1972 to marry.
The Pope, while still Cardinal-Archbishop of Buenos Aires, offered
spiritual assistance to the former bishop in 2000 as he lay dying.
He
then began his weekly conversations with Podestá's widow.
