A ROW between the Catholic Church and a former
employee who planned to protest outside a Galway church after being made
redundant has been settled at the Labour Relations Commission.
Anne Marie Horan had planned to protest outside the Church of Mary Immaculate Queen in Barna last month.
Ms Horan had worked as parish co-ordinator for the Parish of Barna for almost six years before being let go in July.
The
manner of her dismissal and a refusal of the parish to re-instate her
led her to organise a one-person protest outside the church.
However, Ms Horan was threatened with a legal injunction by the Galway diocese if she went ahead with the protest.
The Labour Court stepped in to help resolve the matter and the protest was cancelled.
