Harare Anglicans give thanks

http://www.hreanglicancpca.org.zw/images/index_r1_c1.jpgAfter a bitter five-year dispute Zimbabwe's Supreme Court has ruled that properties must be returned to the official Anglican Church by the excommunicated former bishop of Harare, Nolbert Kunonga.

The court also acknowledged Bishop Chad Gandiya as the rightful Bishop of Harare. Bishop Gandiya said Kunonga's clergy were welcome to start afresh as ordinary worshippers "to be rebaptised, reconfirmed and inducted on Anglican values because they had been lost, physically and spiritually".

A service of thanksgiving, re-dedication and cleansing will be held at Harare Anglican Cathedral on 16 December.

Kunonga is not going quietly, with reports of him threatening to shoot journalists, his clergy being dragged screaming from churches, and Gandiya clergy being attacked in several parishes.
