The priest behind an annual remembrance Mass for deceased bikers has urged road users to heed the fragility of life.
Monaghan priest Fr John Kearns was speaking following the launch of the Gone but not Forgotten bikers DVD, a documentary style video charting the history of a special Mass held each year to remember the deaths of motorbike lovers on the country's roads.
''Many families who have lost a loved one through biking find this Mass is the one place where they can find peace and gain support from being among friends and the DVD captures that sense of community,'' he said of the DVD which also includes several stories from affected families.
Amazed
Fr Kearns, himself a biker, said he was amazed at the large number of people who travelled from across the country to the launch and he had a clear message for all in attendance.
''When we take to the roads, it's important we remember that we're fragile, life is vulnerable and it only takes one lapse in concentration for an accident to happen.''
