Major changes to the boundaries of seven Roman Catholic dioceses have been approved by the country's Catholic bishops.The Vatican recently published decrees modifying the dioceses in three provinces - Quebec, Ontario and Newfoundland-Labrador, according to a release from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Besides the seven modifications, the decrees also announced the creation of a new diocese - the diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador.
The other dioceses involved include Amos, Baie-Comeau, Chicoutimi, Joliette and Trois-Rivieres, all in Quebec; St. George's in Newfoundland-Labrador; and Moosonee in Ontario.
The changes affect a total of 30 parishes and missions.
