The Conference of Bishops of Slovakia said, as reported by the Sme daily, that the pair had together thanked God for the last three years under Bezák and also sought blessing for the upcoming period under Orosch or another archbishop.
The Hospodárske Noviny daily wrote that the Roman Catholic Church had confirmed that Bezák, whose abrupt – and so far unexplained – dismissal by the Pope on July 2 has prompted popular protests, had ordained priests who were 'rejected' by other members of the clergy.
There are rules governing the ordinations of deans and Bezák ignored these, the head of the Slovak Society of Canonical Law and court vicar of the Spiš Diocese Jan Duda told Hospodárske Noviny.
Bezák has been ordered by the Vatican not to speak to the media and has not so far commented on the issue.
