Sister Maura O'Donohue of the Medical Missionaries of Mary was named
Clare Person of the Year at the Annual Dinner Dance of the Clare
Association.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, Liam O'Looney said Sr Maura's
life of service as a missionary doctor has been outstanding.
Bishop Willie Walsh, retired Bishop of Killaloe, commented on Sr
Maura's work in many countries bringing her expertise in community
health, relief of famine, as well as education, prevention and treatment
of HIV/AIDS.
She thanked the people of Clare without whose support she would not
have been able to achieve so much.
On retirement, she took up the
problem of human trafficking and she is the designated person for child
protection for the Medical Missionaries of Mary.
