Listecki Talks To Abuse Victims in Settlement Efforts

Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki meets with clergy sex abuse victims today in Chicago, part of the church's effort to settle their cases.

15 cases are pending in Milwaukee Circuit Court.

The church paid $17 million to settle claims made in California against two priests who had transferred to that state from Milwaukee.

A retired Cook County judge will serve as mediator for the new round of talks which could take weeks.

The Journal Sentinel says the Catholic Church paid out some $2.4 billion to five thousand sex abuse victims, an average of about $274,000 each after lawyers fees.
