Sister Claire (73), born Agnes Ronan, who had worked in the religious community all her life was knocked down in a minor road traffic accident metres from her convent at St Mary's Lane in Upminister.
She tragically died later in hospital from pneumonia.
Walthamstow Coroners Court heard recently that Sister Claire was knocked to the ground even though the car was driving no more than 30kmh well inside the speed limit.
Sister Claire, housekeeper at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, suffered a broken collarbone and pelvis in the collision and was taken to Queen's Hospital in Romford.
From her hospital bed Sister Claire, who was in the early stages of Parkinson's disease, told another nun that she thought the place was an easy place to cross for a bus.
Despite care from a team of specialists, she died just over a week later on March 7.
A verdict of accidental death was returned.
