Asking price halved for former convent and nursing home

A former convent and nursing home in Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, is being sold by a bank which has halved the asking price to around €1m.

Agents Douglas Newman Good say the town centre property would be suited to a variety of alternative uses including tourist/hospitality uses such as a hotel or restaurant, an educational facility or a private residence.

The period building extends to about 1,100sqm and comes with a 2.2-acre site.

Accommodation includes 27 bedrooms of which 13 are en suite.

With its hilltop location, it overlooks the town and the Nore river valley.

It is between the town’s Catholic Church and the former girl’s primary school.

Famous for its Mount Juliet golf course, Thomastown is located on the N9 national primary route and on the Waterford-Dublin main railway line.

The town boasts primary and secondary schools and a selection of restaurants.
