Pope Benedict XVI accepts invitation to visit Belarus

Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the invitation of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to visit Belarus, Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, the Roman Catholic archbishop of Minsk and Mogilyov, said on the air of Belarus' First National TV channel.

"If the God allows me, then yes," the TV channel quoted the pope as saying on Sunday.

It was reported earlier that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko passed an invitation to the pope to visit Belarus through Secretary of State of the Pope Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, who visited Belarus this June.
