The Worcester bishop last month announced that St. Casimir, which serves central Massachusetts residents of Lithuanian descent, would close along with four other city parishes.
Diocesan officials say the closings were due to a shortage of priests and the flight of Catholics to the suburbs.
Parishioners wrote a letter to McManus on May 27 asking him to rethink his decision. The bishop is scheduled to meet with parishioners next Sunday.
If that doesn't work, the church will appeal to the Congregation of Clergy in Rome.
Parishioner Raymond Jakubauskas says the parish is financially viable and active.
