Local police raided Fuyang Maizhong Reformed Church in Anhui Province on March 10.
This is the second time the church has been raided in eight weeks.
One of the church’s elders, Elder Chang Shun, was one of the 18 people arrested during the raid.
This is the third time Elder Chang Shun has been arrested in the last six months.
Fuyang Maizhong Reformed Church has boldly opposed efforts by local officials to force it to join the state-controlled Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), also known as the Three-Self Church.
During the raid, police harassed church members engaged in a prayer meeting and confiscated cell phones and computers.
The 18 church members who were detained are set to serve sentences of up to two weeks in local jails.
