The Diocese of Lancaster has announced that Catholic schoolteachers and governors will be asked to make public profession of faith to mark the Year of Faith.
The profession is likely to be based around the Nicene Creed but could also include questions similar to baptismal promises.
The plan is that during a special Mass educators will make a point of professing their faith.
A spokesman for the diocese stressed that it was "an invitation not an imposition" and non-Catholic teachers will not be required to make the profession.
Fr Michael Docherty, the deputy head of service at the Diocese of Lancaster Education Service, likened the profession to the Chrism Mass where priests "renew their commitment".
He added that it was about making a connection between what is done on a daily basis in schools and what is celebrated at Mass and to do that in a "more public way".
