Pope Benedict has appointed the Rt Rev
Archimandrite Robert Rabbat as the Bishop of the Greek Melkite Eparchy
of St Michael the Archangel of Sydney, according to a statement by the
Apostolic Nunciature of Australia.
The pontiff also confirmed
the election held by the Synod of Bishops of the Greek Melkite Church,
choosing the current Bishop of the Greek Melkite Eparchy of St Michael
the Archangel of Sydney, Most Rev Issam Darwish, to the position of
Greek-Melkite Archbishop of Zahleh and Furzol in Lebanon.
