THE Archbishop of Kampala has taken disciplinary action against Fr. J.B
Kalanzi Ssepuya, who is accused of snatching the wife of a member of his
flock.
On ordination, priests take vows of celibacy.
A Kampala Catholic faithful, Martin Okumu Masiga, is accusing Ssepuya of committing adultery and fathering a child with his wife, Margaret Mbakire Kyakuwa.
He has dragged the priest, who presided over their wedding ceremony on December 30, 2006 at Christ the King in Kampala, to court. Ssepuya is the assistant parish Priest of St. Kizito Catholic Church in Bwaise, a Kampala suburb.
Archdiocese Vicar General Fr. Charles Kasibante yesterday confirmed that action had been taken against Ssepuya, but declined to give what kind of action had been taken.
Sources said the priest he had been suspended indefinitely from conducting church business.
“Action has been taken internally in church. I am not going to announce it here. The archbishop will come out to tell you what action he has taken,” Kasibante said.
Ssepuya on his part when contacted yesterday, he asked: “Why don’t you get that from my employers?”
