A SENIOR Roman Catholic bishop and close friend of Pope Benedict XVI has said he is praying for Osama bin Laden’s soul.
Cardinal Albert Vanhoye, 87, spoke out as security was tightened around the Vatican following fears of revenge attacks.
He said: “I have prayed for the soul of Osama bin Laden. We should pray for him and the souls of the victims of September 11.
“We are all in need of forgiveness because we are all sinners. Jesus taught us to forgive our enemies.”
