A German bishop has assailed the suggestion, raised by officials in the country's interior ministry, that police should be allowed to eavesdrop on confessionals.Bishop Hans-Jochen Jaschke, an auxiliary of the Hamburg archdiocese, served notice that the Catholic Church will do everything possible to oppose the suggestion, which was raised this week.
