Nóiméad Amháin...Reflection

Believe it or not, most teenagers are looking for the interest and guidance of older people…

· 94% of males wish for adult leadership;

· 83% are looking for more information and guidance re: future careers;

· 58% more willing to accept responsibility than avoid it, and

· 83% belong to an organisation.

The above figures come from a study carried out almost 50 years ago, and in that period of time, the actual reverse of each of the above given figures is now the norm…

We need to ask ourselves what have we allowed to happen to our young people and how it is that they are so disillusioned with the world we have now given them…it is in God’s plan that we as adults should have the honour and privilege of guiding our young people towards building and maintaining a better and more equitable society…

Stimulate all of us, O Lord, to provide teenagers with the leadership which they both wish and deserve. We pray that you guide those who shepherd to never lose sight of this ministry and remind us all of our obligations towards each other. Amen.
