Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha's office has finalized its investigation into records dating back to the 1950s related to alleged sexual molestation of children by priests in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence.
The investigation has produced a report, nearly seven years in the making, and that report will be turned over to the Providence Diocese.
The 192-page report, with hundreds more pages of backup materials, is not yet public and will not be for at least 10 days, to give the diocese a chance to absorb it, respond to it and take any legal action it might deem necessary.
But the diocese had previously released a list of credibly accused priests who served in Rhode Island, which was among the first steps in this investigation process.
