AN Irish nun has expressed her delight at being included in the new year's honours list in the UK.
Sister Mary Thomas
'Agnes Dunne', who was born in Thurles, was awarded an MBE by the queen
for services to retirement villages that are run by her order, the
Sisters of St Augustine in England.
The villages provide nursing care for elderly residents and those with mental health issues.
"I
recognise that the award is given, not just to myself, but in
recognition too of my own religious community and in recognition of the
many other professionals who have worked with us over the years," she
said.
