To coincide with the first anniversary of Pope Benedict XVI's historic visit to the UK last year, Ooberfuse has joined forces with a leading US dance producer to remix Heart's Cry, the anthemic youth rap soundtrack of the papal visit. This time last year the organisers of Pope Benedict XVI's visit joined forces with UK electro-pop band, Ooberfuse, to communicate the theme of the papal visit, Heart Speaks Unto Heart, in contemporary rap/hip-hop music.
The song was described as a world away from the type of soaring hymns usually associated with Catholic services and was thought to bear a passing resemblance to Black Eyed Peas breakthrough single, ˜Where is the love?™.
It opens with extracts of a speech by Pope Benedict proclaiming that hatred will never reign in the hearts of men again.
"We really want to celebrate the anniversary of the UK papal visit" said Cherrie from Ooberfuse, "so we teamed up with US record producer, Marcus Davis Jr., to come up with an electrifying re-mix of Heart's Cry. The concept of the Successor of Saint Peter, perceived by many as a conservative figure, choosing a genre of music ordinarily reserved for street gangs, seemed to grip people in unexpected ways. The New York Times for instance listed Heart's Cry in its top 10 table-talk themes for the week of the UK papal visit!"
