My dear friends, the article in relation to International Womens Day which made reference to the Vatican document entitled Washing Machine Brought Rights To Women elicited the following response, and indeed it does merit reflection in many, many ways....
'The Vatican has angered feminists by daring to suggest that women have been more liberated by the advent of washing machines than by the introduction of the contraceptive Pill.
I wouldn't be in such a rush to condemn the clerics - if they are referring specifically to the liberation offered by the top corner of a machine in mid-spin cycle, then thousands of women would have to agree with the Pope on this one - and, indeed, congratulate him on his open-mindedness!!'
Let it be noted that this report/survey et al was drawn up by a nun so perhaps there may indeed be more this report than meets the eye.
Now, where are the good Sisters when you need some laundry doing?
