Restorers at the Vatican are nearing completion of a project to
revive the spectacular artworks in the apartments of Pope Alexander VI.The apartments feature the frescoes of a 15th-century master, Pinturicchio, who was commissioned by Pope Alexander VI to decorate his apartments.
The restoration project, shedding new light on the work of artist’s work, is scheduled for completion in January, and the apartments will then be opened to the public.
The rediscovery of Pinturicchio could cast a new light on the papacy of Alexander VI — born Rodrigo Borgia — which was otherwise marred by scandal.
