The Archdiocese of Indianapolis has released a statement on the recent location of Father Kappes.
"The
Archdiocese of Indiana was elated to learn from Father Christiaan
Kappes' family that Father Kappes is alive and safe. We are hopeful that
he soon will be returning to the United States. We thank everyone for
their prayers and support for Father Kappes and ask that people continue
to pray for his safe return to Indiana. We also would like to thank the
Vatican and all the authorities who have been searching for Father
Kappes."
The Find Father Kappes Facebook page announced that Father Kappes was safe early Monday morning. "He made it out and made contact. He is in good health."
The
website later posted that Father Kappes and his translator have gotten
out of Greece and are in another country.
The pair made contact with
Kappes' family and let them know they would be coming home as soon as
they could.
In a press briefing on October 4, the State Department confirmed Christiaan Kappes was missing.
