Woodburn priest delays entering plea in sex abuse case; new court date set

The priest of a Catholic church in Woodburn who is accused of sexually touching a 12-year-old Salem boy was expected to enter a plea this morning, but set a new date in the case instead.

Angel Armando Perez, 46, faces charges of first-degree sex abuse, using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct, four counts of delivering alcohol to a minor, tampering with evidence and driving under the influence of intoxicants.

The boy reported that he had spent the night on an air mattress at Perez’s house and awoke to the Perez touching his genitals and taking pictures with his cellphone, court record states.

A court hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 25.
