A South Korean prelate who will become a cardinal on February 22
spoke of the evangelization of North Korea and China in an interview
with the Fides news ageny.
“Through God’s call, I will pray and give my full support to the
evangelization of the Church in Asia, in particular China and North
Korea,” said Archbishop Andrew Yeom Soo-jung of Seoul. “This is an
important task, not only for the Korean Church.”
“My gaze goes to my predecessor[s] in the history of our country, who
dedicated themselves to evangelization,” he added. “I want to follow
their footsteps.”
Pope Benedict appointed the prelate Archbishop of Seoul in 2010.
