Cork clergy put weight behind charity fundraiser

Fr Pat Fogarty, Parish Priest of Carrigaline and Rev. Elaine Murray, the local rector, are taking part in a ‘Charity Weight Loss Competition’ to help Carrigaline & District Lions Club in their initiative to provide a youth club for the town.

The two clerics recently attended their first official weigh-in surrounded by parishioners and sponsors in Carrigaline, and will have their progress charted over the next few months.

The Lions Clubs is an international service organisation with 1.35 million men and women in 200 countries and more than 45,000 clubs around the world. 

The Carrigaline & District Lions Club is one of the most active clubs in Ireland and is involved in a number of projects both at home and abroad such as provision of housing for the elderly in the local community and an annual Christmas food appeal.
