The Archbishop of Kenya, Dr Eliud Wabukala, has criticised the
Archbishops of Canterbury and York for supporting same-sex civil
partnerships, which he said "contradicted historic biblical teaching".
In a message to the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (FCA), Dr
Wabukala chairman of the Gafcon Primates' Council, noted that in debates
in the House of Lords on the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill last
month, Archbishop Welby and Dr Sentamu defended marriage, but "appeared
at the same time to approve same-sex civil partnerships ... in
contradiction to the historic biblical teaching on human sexuality
reaffirmed by the 1998 Lambeth Conference".
He wrote that the Church of England "seems to be advancing along the
same path" as the US Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada
which he accused of promoting "a false gospel".
