Cardinal Brady to attend rededication of Clonmel church

Cardinal Seán Brady will preside over the rededication of a County Tipperary church on Sunday July 18.

Cardinal Brady will officiate at the ceremony to mark the bicentenary celebration of Saints Peter & Paul's Church in Clonmel, with the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore Dr William Lee.

The parish has also invited all past priests of the parish to the service.

The rededication ceremony will be at the 12:30pm mass at the church and is part of an ongoing programme of ceremonies, focusing on parish and community and to mark the 200th anniversary of Saints Peter & Paul's church this year.

Renowned brass and reed band Banna Cluain Meala will play outside the church to welcome guests and parishioners before the ceremony.

The ceremony is among a number of events planned for the weekend of July 16 -18, which will include the launch of a book commemorating the anniversary.

Former parish priest Canon Nicholas Power who was a member of the bicentenary committee and who passed away suddenly just three months ago will also be remembered during the mass.
