Boundaries modified for seven Catholic dioceses

Major changes to the boundaries of seven Roman Catholic dioceses have been approved by the country's Catholic bishops.

The Vatican recently published decrees modifying the dioceses in three provinces - Quebec, Ontario and Newfoundland-Labrador, according to a release from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Besides the seven modifications, the decrees also announced the creation of a new diocese - the diocese of Corner Brook and Labrador.

The other dioceses involved include Amos, Baie-Comeau, Chicoutimi, Joliette and Trois-Rivieres, all in Quebec; St. George's in Newfoundland-Labrador; and Moosonee in Ontario.

The changes affect a total of 30 parishes and missions.
