Pope Benedict XVI has approved October 28th as the date of beatification for 498 martyrs who gave their life for Christ during the religious persecution of the Spanish Civil War.The announcement about the 23 causes was made by Bishop Ricardo Blazquez, president of the Bishops’ Conference of Spain.
During their last meeting in April, the bishops of Spain announced that the beatification would take place in October, pending approval by the Holy See.
