Killaloe Diocesan Appointments 2007

Bishop of Killaloe Willie Walsh has today announced 13 clerical appointments in the Diocese of Killaloe, including a chaplain to the Polish community.

There are currently 124 priests serving the diocese, with one student currently studying for the priesthood and a further two expected to join the seminary in September.

According to information released by the Killaloe Diocese today, there are currently 124 priests servicing 58 parishes and a catholic population of over one hundred and ten thousand.

Among the new appointments is Rev Thomasz Daukszewicz, from the Diocese of Elk in Poland to be chaplain to the polish community and to reside in the parish of Ennis.

Reverend Brendan Quinlivan has been appointed priest in residence in the parish of Feakle, where Fr Michael Hogan is currently on a leave of absence.

The parish of Clonlara will receive a new parish priest in the form of Fr Patrick Greed who is being transferred from Birr in Co Offaly,but who has previously served in Doonbeg, Kilkee and St Flannans College Ennis.

Of the 124 priests currently under the diocese 96 are in full time parish ministry, with a further 5 engaged in chaplaincy, teaching or administration, 9 overseas and 9 retirees.
