Prime Minister Israeli donates 200 YR. Old olive tree ot the Holy Father

In an over 2,000 kilometer voyage, a 200 year old Olive Tree from the Holy Land has made its way to Ravenna Port in Italy.

The tree is a gift from Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, following Netanyahu’s recent visit to the Vatican Museum.

According to the Israeli Prime Minister, the tree symbolizes the blooming friendship between the two States, and it represents the aspiration to foster peace and brotherhood between peoples and religions.

The operation was facilitated by Keren Kayemeth, the Jewish National Fund, which selected and shipped the tree to Ravenna Port and whose World Chairman, Effi Stenzler, was present for the ceremony.

The tree was transported by the Vatican authorities from the port to its new home at Viale Degli Ulivi (“Olive Tree Blvd”).
