Priest shortage starts to bite in Adelaide

Adelaide archdiocese has started to cancel Masses owing to a shortage of priests, reports say.

ABC News report the archdiocese has already cancelled one Sunday Mass at its church at St Peter's and is considering reducing services at St Mary's church in North Adelaide and its cathedral in Victoria Square in central Adelaide.

Vicar-general Monsignor David Cappo has commissioned a review of Mass times to cope with a growing shortage of priests.

Parishioners are being asked which services they would be prepared to lose.
