Bishop Christopher Jones (pic alongside), in his Christmas time message, has decided to throw his episcopal biretta into the oncoming General Election by advising his (dwindling) faithful to pose some serious questions to their representatives when they come looking for their votes in the next few days.He has stated that they (the politicians) should be asked some hard questions on doorsteps and one in particular should be as follows....
Will marriage and family always have the protection of our Constitution?
And also, will gay couples be allowed to undermine society by being granted equal recognition as other couples in marriage?
And to crucify himself completely, why should the State actively encourage couples living outside of wedlock by paying child support allowances and other single parent payments which goes against the Constitution?If the good bishop wishes to get the answer to these questions, maybe he should take a good read of the same said document he is using...namely the Irish Constitution...wherein he will find the answers to his questions!!!
