Teenager arrested over Fife church bell theft

An 18-year-old man has appeared in court over the theft of a church bell worth £15,000.

The bell went missing from St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Lochgelly on the 13 or 14 January.

The youth, who appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, was charged after the bell was found at commercial premises in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.

Fife Constabulary said they were continuing to investigate how the bell came to be in Bellshill.
