Plans set for Christian Unity prayer week

The Vatican has released plans for the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which will be observed from January 18 through 25.

Pope Benedict XVI will preside at an ecumenical Vespers service on January 25 at the Roman basilica of St. Paul's Outside-the-Walls to close the traditional observance.

The Pontifical Council for Christian Unity has organized this year's observance in cooperation with the Commission on Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches.

The theme for this year's week of prayer is taken from St. Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians: "Pray without ceasing."
