SOUTH SUDAN - "Presidential pardon for political prisoners" requested by the Archbishop of Juba

"I ask the President to pardon and forgive all political prisoners as well as others arrested for minor offenses, other who may have been arrested because of rumors mongering and propagandaI" asked His Exc. Mgr. Paulino Lukudu Loro, Archbishop of Juba, capital of South Sudan, addressing President Salva Kiir, who promoted "national dialogue" to allow South Sudan to get out of the serious political and military crisis that started in the aftermath of the attempted coup in December 2013.

Mgr. Lokudu praised the initiative of the Head of State, emphasizing, however, that true dialogue begins from forgiveness.

Despite the precarious situation, the Christmas holidays were carried out peacefully in most parts of the Country.
