London: Volunteers needed for winter night shelters

Extra volunteers are needed to help support the Catholic church-run Winter Night Shelters in central London near Victoria Station, Leicester Square and Soho.

During the coldest months of the year, the shelters provide a hot evening meal, advice and support, a warm place to stay, showers and breakfast for people who would otherwise be sleeping on the city streets.

Projects currently needing extra volunteers are:

Westminster Cathedral Hall - Shelter running on Wednesdays Feb-May
Ambrosden Avenue, SW1P 1QW
• Set-up and serving dinner from 6pm-10pm
• Overnight Shifts from 10pm-6am
• Early morning breakfast and clear-up 6:30-8:30am

St Patrick's Church, - Shelter running Friday Nights Feb - May
21 Soho Square, London W1D 4NR
• Kitchen 5.30/6 till 8.30pm
• Set up and evening 6 till 9.30pm
• Overnight 9.30 pm till 8 am
• Breakfast and clear up 6.00 till 8.30am
• Whole night 6pm till 8 am
