For her contributions to public education Sister Micaela Princiotto, a
Dominican Missionary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be awarded the
"Bronze Patujú" (flower symbol of Bolivia).
The award ceremony,
organized by one of main newspapers of Bolivia, concerns nine people for their work and their
contribution to the growth of the country.
"One has to reward the work and dedication of people and institutions
that fight for a better world and who have distinguished themselves in
this effort", stressed the organizers of this event, which celebrates
its 18th edition.
Sister Micaela Princiotto, Italian, arrived in Bolivia in 1989. As
director of the Bienaventuranzas Foundation Publishing House, and
ensured that this publishing company is present all over the country.
Moreover all training initiatives promoted are free, and therefore this
helped teachers in public and private schools to achieve higher levels
of competence in teaching, in the new approaches and techniques to use
in the classroom.
Sister Micaela is also the head mistress of the
Josefina Balsamo educational institute, in Santa Cruz, composed of ten
education centers, attended by about 12,000 students.
