A Jesuit priest was wounded by a rubber bullet fired by police during a violent protest at a South African university.
Police used tear gas and rubber bullets to break up a student
demonstration at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
Father
Graham Pugin was struck in the face by a rubber bullet, reportedly as
he appealed for an end to the violence.
America magazine reports that Father Pugin was apparently
providing sanctuary for students, and was shot when he tried to stop
police who were entering the grounds of Holy Trinity church.
