Archbishop Chaput rips Clinton campaign efforts to change Church teaching

Image result for Archbishop Charles ChaputArchbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia blasted Clinton campaign officials in a heated response to the revelations that they had organized a drive to influence the Church.

Writing in his archdiocesan newspaper, Archbishop Chaput said that he had encountered representatives of Catholics United in the past, and found them to be “obvious flacks for the Obama campaign and the Democratic Party.”

(Catholics United is one of the organizations that John Podesta, the chairman of the Clinton campaign, disclosed that he had helped to establish, in emails made public by Wikileaks.)

In a sardonic finale to his column, the archbishop wrote:
Of course it would be wonderful for the Clinton campaign to repudiate the content of these ugly WikiLeaks emails. All of us backward-thinking Catholics who actually believe what Scripture and the Church teach would be so very grateful.
