Church groups sow faith seeds at National Ploughing Championships

The Legion of Mary, the Franciscans, the Daughters of Charity and St Joseph of Cluny Sisters will be among those raising the flag for faith at this year’s National Ploughing Championship which takes place from September 20-22 at Screggan, Tullamore.

Other Church-related exhibitors include EWTN and Trócaire.  The Church of Ireland diocese of Kildare and Meath and the Methodist Church will also have exhibition stands.

Last year’s event attracted 281,000 people. “I think it is important to be present,” Bro. Pat Lynch, Vocations Director, told The Irish Catholic.

The Franciscans have been at the Ploughing for years.

Last year they moved to the retail section, ending up beside a new whiskey.

“We are sowing seeds and we never know where our prayer cards and magazines may go.”
