2 years after storming of church, 4 Christians released from Iranian prisons

Two years after Iranian police stormed an Assemblies of God church and temporarily detained all present, including children, the four church members who received prison sentences have all reportedly been released, according to Christian Solidarity Worldwide.

“The mental anguish affects you physically, even if you are not mistreated physically,” said Davoud Alijani, one of the four. “The guards regularly tried to get me to reconvert [to Islam].”

“While we welcome these releases, we remind the Iranian authorities that these people were arrested and convicted for nothing other than celebrating Christmas in their legally registered church,” said Christian Solidarity Worldwide’s Mervyn Thomas.
