The bishop of Ciudad Victoria, a northeastern Mexican city of
300,000, revealed that one of his priests has been missing since
November 3, according to Milenio, one of the nation’s leading newspapers.
Bishop Antonio González Sánchez also revealed that two of his priests
have been beaten in separate incidents and that one died following the
assault.
The first victim, age 70, was already ill; the bishop said that
the attack may have hastened his death.
The second victim is
recovering.
Despite reports of improved security in Tamaulipas, the Mexican state
whose capital is Ciudad Victoria, the area is “still having
disappearances, still having killings,” the bishop said.
