Gardai are investigating the robbery of a parish priest's home in Dublin last night. A lone balaclava-clad thief broke into the home of the parish priest in Lusk, armed with a screwdriver.
He tied the elderly priest up and demanded that the priest hand over the church collection.
The incident happened at the parochial house on Chapel Road in Lusk at 10pm yesterday.
The priest was at his home this morning, and he was speaking to investigating gardai.
The shocking incident follows another home robbery in north Dublin on Friday where a mother and her eight year-old child were tied up.
Two men forced their way into the home in Howth and stole a sum of money and jewellery.
The men knocked on the door of a home at Casana View in Howth.
Both were tied to chairs using cable ties to restrain them during the robbery.
Upon entering the premises, the men made a series of demands before leaving at 9.20am with as sum of money.
The individuals then stole the car of the woman, which they abandoned in Howth village.
Gardai are currently tracing the steps of the suspects after the car was abandoned.
The female victim eventually managed to free herself and raised the alarm to neighbours, who called Gardai.
Her husband, who is a dentist, was not at home at the time of the incident.
Investigating gardai are appealing for witnesses to come foward.
No arrests have been made yet.
